In 2018, Hawaii adopted the CSTA K-12 Computer Science Standards withing each grade band with the goal of increasing equity and diversity in computer science.

Hawaii requires all high schools to offer at least one computer science course beginning in the 2021 school year. At the start of the 2022 school year, every elementary and middle school must also offer computer science content.
In high school the AP CS courses may count as a math credit towards graduation.
Hawaii aligns quite well to CSTA and ISTE standards and therefore has five core computer science concepts and 7 core practices:
