Illinois is to adopt computer science education standards soon. The Illinois State Board of Education recently passed House Bill 2170 to announce that the state will be adopting K-12 computer science education standards. It is expected to be released in December 2021.

By 2022-2023 school year, entering 9th grade students are required to take a course on computer literacy (“computer literacy” is not yet defined).
