In 2020, Montana adopted the CSTA K-12 Computer Science Standards. The standards were written with the following goals:

At Rex, we have matched Montana’s vision with our own.
A computer science course that aligns to the standards in Montana may count towards graduation as a math, science, or a possible elective credit but the decision rests with local districts.
The state has proposed licensing pathways for teachers by passing the Praxis exam or completing teacher training programs.
Montana aligns quite well to CSTA therefore has five core computer science concepts:
