In 2019, North Dakota adopted computer science and cybersecurity standards. North Dakota was one of the first states to adopt cybersecurity standards specifically, along with standards for the rest of computer science.

North Dakota does not yet require its high schools to offer computer science. AP CS A and a few other courses may count as a math credit toward graduation requirements.
In North Dakota, teachers with existing licensure may acquire a computer science endorsement for five years by completing a specified amount of coursework as outlined by the district.
